5-Inch Rules For Contact Measurement
5-inch / 130 mm aluminum rules help you reach the surfaces you need to compare. Read 0-360 degrees on the LCD; stated +/-0.3-degree accuracy is separate from 0.05-degree display resolution.

LX-DAF5
LX-DAF5 is a 5-inch / 130 mm aluminum digital angle finder for workshop setup and measuring angles between surfaces. Its pivoting rules carry imperial and metric markings, and the LCD displays angles across a 0-360-degree range.
5-inch / 130 mm aluminum rules help you reach the surfaces you need to compare. Read 0-360 degrees on the LCD; stated +/-0.3-degree accuracy is separate from 0.05-degree display resolution.

HOLD freezes the displayed angle. A three-second HOLD/FLIP press flips the display for upside-down reading; the locking knob holds the rule position.

One 5-inch / 130 mm digital angle finder, zippered pouch and two supplied 3V CR2032 cells. Install one cell for operation.

Choose rule length for access and contact with your workpiece. Display resolution and measurement accuracy are different specifications.
| Job or requirement | Works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Miter saw setup | Yes, with rule contact | Seat the rules against the relevant surfaces; follow the saw instructions. |
| Table saw angle checks | Yes, where the rules fit | Check contact and zero before measuring; no magnetic-base claim is made. |
| Shelf alignment | Yes | Choose a rule length that reaches the surfaces being compared. |
| Inside and supplementary angles | Yes | REV displays 180 degrees minus the measured inside angle after zeroing. |
| Measuring a long distance | No substitute for a long tape | Rules are 5 inches / 130 mm; choose a tape for longer spans. |
| Applications requiring tighter than +/-0.3 degree | Not verified | A 0.05-degree display step does not establish a tighter tolerance. |
Choose the 5-inch / 130 mm rules when they can contact the surfaces in your work area. LX-DAF7 and LX-DAF10 provide longer 7-inch / 180 mm and 10-inch / 250 mm rules; no size is universally best.
Shelf alignment is a listed application. For a small joint, make sure both 130 mm rules seat against the relevant surfaces; their short length does not guarantee clearance in every opening.
Use it for table saw angle checks. Position the 5-inch rules where they can contact the blade and reference surface; do not rely on magnetic attachment.
No universal enclosed-corner fit is established. Compare the 130 mm rules and pivot housing with the actual opening before relying on access.
It provides short imperial and metric linear markings, not a long extendable blade. Choose a contact tape when the span is longer than these rules.
The stated accuracy remains +/-0.3 degree. Shorter 5-inch rules change reach and fit; they do not establish a tighter tolerance than the other LX-DAF sizes.
The LX-DAF5 has 1/32-inch imperial markings plus metric markings on anodized aluminum rules. Those linear marks are separate from the angle display.
No. The screen resolves 0.05-degree steps, while angle accuracy is +/-0.3 degree. Keep those separate when assessing a tolerance-sensitive setup.
HOLD locks the current screen value. If you also need the 5-inch arms to stay at that opening, secure the physical locking knob; display hold alone is a different function.
A three-second HOLD/FLIP press changes the display orientation for upside-down reading. Ensure the rules remain seated rather than assuming a flipped display changes the measured geometry.
REV displays the supplementary value of the measured inside angle, calculated as 180 degrees minus that angle. You still position and zero the rules for the measurement.
Use one CR2032 in the operating tray. Two cells are included; do not stack both into the tray or infer two-cell operation from the package count.
No. LX-DAF5 uses 5-inch / 130 mm rules and LX-DAF7 uses 7-inch / 180 mm rules. Both models have the same 0-360-degree range and +/-0.3-degree angle accuracy.
LX-230 uses engraved mechanical cut scales. LX-DAF5 supplies an LCD with ZERO, HOLD/FLIP and REV controls; choose by the kind of reading and transfer method you need.
The package includes the LX-DAF5 tool, its zippered pouch and two 3V CR2032 cells. Install one cell for operation.
Yes. Both 5-inch / 130 mm rules are described as anodized aluminum, with imperial and metric scales. The tool also includes a separate LCD housing at the joint.
It shuts off after five minutes of inactivity. Plan to record or hold the reading during the measurement rather than assuming an always-on display.
12 months standard; 24 months when you register online within 90 days of purchase. Covered defects are distinct from wear or misuse; commercial use stays at 12 months and industrial use is excluded.
For initial calibration, align both rules on a flat surface and press ZERO. To use the 180-degree position as a starting point, extend both rules fully, lay them flat and press ZERO.
Rotate the locking knob counterclockwise to release the arms; set the angle, then tighten the knob clockwise to hold it.
After measuring the inside angle, REV shows its supplementary value: 180 degrees minus the measured inside angle.
Check that the CR2032 cell is fitted with its negative face upward; replace the cell if needed. If the problem persists, contact Lexivon.
Press ZERO and recalibrate using the flat starting position. If the display error continues, contact Lexivon instead of trusting the reading.
Wipe it with a soft dry cloth, avoid abrasive cleaners and store it in the supplied pouch. Remove the battery if it will be unused longer than three months; keep coin cells away from children.
