Overview

LX-190 is a 1/4-inch drive bicycle torque wrench covering 2-26 Nm, with 0.2 Nm adjustments and measurement in both directions. Its 8.7-inch length and zippered case suit portable maintenance when the component specification fits; select sockets or bits separately.

Key Advantages

Model Fit

Nm-First Settings For Bicycle Maintenance

LX-190 puts 2-26 Nm settings first, with a 1/4-inch drive and both measuring directions. Its 8.7-inch length helps you plan space for bicycle maintenance.

Will it fit the job?

Match the required torque, measurement direction, square drive and working space to the equipment specification.

Job or attachmentWorksWhat to check
Bicycle fasteners with 2-26 Nm specificationsYes, when specification fitsClockwise and counterclockwise tightening within 2-26 Nm; follow the equipment maker's torque value.
1/4-inch drive socketsYesMatch the socket opening to the fastener and allow space for the wrench.
3/8-inch drive socketsNo direct fitMatch the square drive rather than the socket opening size.
Fasteners below 2 NmNoUse a lower-range torque tool.
Fasteners above 26 NmNoUse a higher-range torque tool.
Left-hand threaded fastenersYes, within rangeCounterclockwise accuracy claim is +/-6%.
Stuck fasteners and added leverageNoDo not use as a breaker bar or add leverage devices.

Questions

Can LX-190 tighten bicycle stem or seat-area bolts?

Compare each component's printed or service-manual torque with LX-190's 2-26 Nm range. Match a 1/4-inch drive attachment to the bolt, then stop at the click. The bicycle label does not establish a universal stem or seat-clamp setting.

Will it measure a bicycle bolt specified below 2 Nm?

The LX-190 measuring range starts at 2 Nm, so a lower specification requires another instrument. Do not force the handle below its marked minimum or round a delicate component's requirement upward to fit the tool.

Can it measure 26 Nm for a higher-torque component?

26 Nm is within the LX-190 range and is its upper endpoint. Verify the component's attachment and direction as well as torque; a pedal, crank or other fastener needing more than 26 Nm calls for a higher-range wrench.

Does it handle measured tightening of left-hand bicycle threads?

LX-190 measures both directions, with stated +/-4% clockwise and +/-6% counterclockwise accuracy. Select the appropriate ratcheting direction and keep within 2-26 Nm; thread direction alone does not establish the component's required torque.

Can I use the 1/4-inch bits I already own?

Check the interface, not just the phrase 1/4 inch. LX-190 has a 1/4-inch square drive; a loose hex-shank bit needs a correctly matched holder. Confirm the fit of your existing attachments before use.

Is it compact enough to take on a bicycle trip?

LX-190 is 8.7 inches (22 cm) long and includes a zippered case. Compare those facts with your available storage space. They do not guarantee airline carry-on acceptance or authorize disassembling the head for travel.

How are small Nm adjustments made?

LX-190 uses a Nm-first setting procedure with 0.2 Nm micrometer steps. Five of those steps add 1 Nm to the body reading. The inch-pound equivalent is rounded to about 1.8 in-lb, not a whole 2 in-lb setting.

Should I buy LX-190 or LX-180 for small settings?

LX-190 provides 2-26 Nm (17.7-230.1 in-lb) with 0.2 Nm adjustments. LX-180 provides 10-150 in-lb (1.1-16.9 Nm) with 1 in-lb adjustments. Both use 1/4-inch drives and measure both ways; choose the interval and primary unit that fit.
