Overview

LX-180 is an 8.7-inch, 1/4-inch drive torque wrench for low settings from 10 to 150 in-lb (1.1-16.9 Nm). It measures in both directions, uses 1 in-lb adjustments and includes a zippered case for small-fastener work where the torque and access fit.

Key Advantages

Model Fit

Low Inch-Pound Torque In Both Directions

LX-180 starts at 10 in-lb and measures in both directions on a 1/4-inch drive. Its 8.7-inch length suits space checks for small-fastener work.

Settings

Set And Lock By Hand

Choose the inch-pound or Nm micrometer row, adjust in 1 in-lb steps and raise the sliding collar to lock. Pull slowly because low-setting clicks can be subtle.

In The Box

Wrench, Case And Calibration Certificate

LX-180 includes the wrench, zippered protective case, operator manual and calibration certificate. Choose a suitable 1/4-inch drive attachment separately.

Will it fit the job?

Match the required torque, measurement direction, square drive and working space to the equipment specification.

Job or attachmentWorksWhat to check
Small mechanical and equipment-mounting fastenersYes, when specification fitsClockwise and counterclockwise tightening within 10-150 in-lb; follow the equipment maker's torque value.
1/4-inch drive socketsYesMatch the socket opening to the fastener and allow space for the wrench.
3/8-inch drive socketsNo direct fitMatch the square drive rather than the socket opening size.
Fasteners below 10 in-lbNoUse a lower-range torque tool.
Fasteners above 150 in-lbNoUse a higher-range torque tool.
Left-hand threaded fastenersYes, within rangeCounterclockwise accuracy claim is +/-6%.
Stuck fasteners and added leverageNoDo not use as a breaker bar or add leverage devices.

Questions

Is this suitable for low inch-pound mechanical settings?

LX-180 begins at 10 in-lb and reaches 150 in-lb (1.1-16.9 Nm). Its 1/4-inch drive suits matched small attachments when the equipment specification falls in that interval; it is not a foot-pound automotive wheel wrench.

Can it replace a torque screwdriver for electrical work?

Match the electrical component's torque value, attachment and available space first. LX-180 is a 1/4-inch square-drive wrench, not a screwdriver. Confirm electrical insulation and terminal requirements before selecting it for electrical work.

Can I use it for equipment mounting fasteners?

Use LX-180 only when the mounting-hardware maker specifies torque between 10 and 150 in-lb. Fit the proper attachment and verify the tightening direction for that hardware.

Will a 3/8-inch socket fit its head directly?

LX-180 has a small 1/4-inch square drive with a quick-release button. A 3/8-inch drive recess does not fit it directly. Select by drive size as well as the opening that grips your fastener.

Can I tighten below the marked 10 in-lb minimum?

LX-180 does not measure below 10 in-lb (1.1 Nm). Choose a lower-range torque tool if the fastener needs less; a low scale position does not establish usable accuracy there.

Does it measure both clockwise and counterclockwise torque?

Yes. LX-180 measures torque in both directions, with +/-4% clockwise and +/-6% counterclockwise accuracy claims.

How fine are its inch-pound adjustments?

LX-180 uses 1 in-lb micrometer divisions, equivalent to the 0.113 Nm step. The handle has separate inch-pound and Nm rows; use the row that matches the unit you are setting.

How is LX-180 different from LX-190?

Both are 1/4-inch drive dual-direction tools. LX-180 covers 10-150 in-lb (1.1-16.9 Nm) with 1 in-lb steps; LX-190 covers 2-26 Nm (17.7-230.1 in-lb) with 0.2 Nm steps. Choose the lower inch-pound minimum or the higher Nm ceiling your job needs.
